Hotel Grand Powers

How many properties can paint an entire suite, or its bar for that matter, a blushing Chanel pink and get away with it? Stylish Grand Powers can. Inside a Haussmannian townhouse from the 19th century, this five-star hotel is both a celebration of the iconic architect who transformed medieval Paris into a modern ‘city of light’ and an ode to the 1920s when the Powers first opened its doors as a hotel – Brits, stopping in Paris en route to the Riviera, simply adored the place.

After an 18-month refurbishment, the historic hotel has re-emerged as an outstandingly beautiful, sensual mirage of original decorative features, bespoke furniture inspired by 1940s and 1950s design icons, and unique artworks – all personally overseen by owner Alexandra Marang. From the playful use of mirrors (vintage and modern) to the retro pink and celadon-green, the Art Deco chandelier in the lobby unchanged since 1920, or the comforting candle scent of waxed wood and incense, the attention to detail is flawless.
